The well known Blue Point Oyster

When thinking of Blue Point, the first thing that comes to mind is the internationally known Blue Point Oyster. The marine life and water activities have made Blue Point, on the Great South Bay, a place to remember.

In the early 1900's, Blue Point was the summer resort center of Long Island. It was known for its many enormous hotels, boarding houses, and estates.

The magnificent bay setting attracted many summer vacationers from around the country. Blue Point still offers easy access to famous Fire Island beaches and excellent waters for sailing, boating, and fishing.

The Harbour at Blue Point is located on the former estate of Judge George Washington Olvany, who was a leading member of the Democratic Party. Ironically, the Olvany estate became the Suffolk County Republican Party Headquarters from 1956 to 1983.

Maintaining the natural setting and estate atmosphere was the top priority of the designers and developers of The Harbour at Blue Point.

Many of the unique and unusual trees remain. The sheltered marina and private sandy beach at the Harbour at Blue Point make it easy to see what so many people, both past and present, have enjoyed at Blue Point.
